Many wonderful people have served as mentors and guides for me throughout the years; these people have given me professional, emotional, and intellectual support during my journeys through graduate school, my job search, and my current professional endeavours. My undergraduate professors at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis included mentors like Jeanette Dickerson-Putman, Richard Ward, Sue Hyatt, Gina Sanchez Gibau, and Paul Mullins. In graduate school, Brett Williams, Melissa Hackman, Debarati Sen, Catherine Mitchell Fuentes, Daniel Sayers, and Sabiyha Prince all served as fantastic role models for me. They each conduct important and timely research about inequalities and power imbalances, and I am constantly inspired by their intellectual prowess and their commitment to social justice.
